I'm feeling a bit giddy and am not sure that the news has really sunk in yet.
More than anything I value the independant feedback given by the panel of judges and look forward to developing our signature drink further. This coming winter season our award winning Mulled port will be wearing its Gold Star sticker like a badge of honour.
So what is all the fuss about?
Basically, the Great Taste Awards are considered to be the equivalent of the Oscars for the UK speciality food and drink industry.
Judging takes place over 50 days by 405 judges and 38 specially trained food writers.
This year nearly 10,000 products were entered of which 125 attained the prestigious 3 star award.
There are 3 levels of award.
1 star is a virtually faultless food
2 star is outstanding and
3 star is Exquisite, wow taste that!
As a customer purchasing a product awarded with a star from The Guild of Fine Food, you can be assured that the product has won the award based on its great taste rather than clever marketing.
After only 1 year in business I am so proud to have my mulled port descibed as virtually faultless.
I cannot wait for next years competition, so I'd better get back to the drawing board and see what I can concoct in the Still Room!
